Magnify Him with Thanksgiving

Hello! I hope you are all having a good week. I'm sorry I missed posting for the last Word Art Wednesday challenge. We had an emergency at work and then it's been crazy ever since. Whew! I'll post the card I made for the last challenge at the end of this post. For this week's challenge our focus verse is Psalm 69:30, "I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving." This is the time of year that our thoughts turn to thanksgiving. After the year we've all had in 2020, it's even more important to focus on our blessings. The Lord has been so good to all of us. I am so thankful that He is still on the throne in control. God is good!!

For my card this week, I wanted the verse to be the focus.I chose this MFT sketch 353 to be the inspiration for my card. I stayed fairly close to the sketch and used one of my favorite rose gold foil cardstocks for some added pizzazz.

Supplies:
Sketch: MFTWSC353
Cardstock: Recollections (rose gold foil, #110 white for card base), Darice (red, brown), Pen & Gear (white cardstock)
Patterned Paper: Pink & Main (Take Flight 6 x 6)
Stamp: WORDart by Karen (Psalm 69:30)
Tools/Embellishments: Spellbinders dies (Standard Circle Large, Petite Scalloped Circle Large), Big Lots ribbon, The Paper Studio gems

My card for the last challenge:

Voice of Thanksgiving

It's time for a new challenge at Word Art Wednesday. As we look at our focus verse for this challenge, we see that it is all about praising the Lord and bringing glory to His name. We are to tell others of all the wonderful things He has done for us and to do so with thanksgiving. It is a privilege to thank the Lord for what He’s done.

Daily gratitude challenges are popular on social media during the month of November. I’ve seen them criticized because “we should be thankful every day, not just during one month of the year.” That is absolutely true. However, being humans, we tend to be forgetful. Do we truly express our gratitude daily? If so, do we do so publicly? I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a challenge to remind us to be grateful for everything, big and small, with which the Lord has blessed us. And, just maybe, after expressing our thanksgiving for 30 days, we’ll develop the habit to continue even after November is long gone.

Expressing our thanksgiving to the Lord for the wonderful things He has done in our lives is important in our daily quiet time with Him. It is a type of worship to acknowledge how He’s working in our lives and thanking Him for it. It is also a great testimony to others to openly express our gratitude for the blessings we have and to give the Lord the praise for those things. It’s more than saying, “I’m thankful I have a good job.” Believers and non-believers would express the same. It brings the Lord glory for us to say, “I’m so thankful that the Lord worked out the details for me to have such a good job.” This puts the focus where it belongs. Developing a spirit of thankfulness and expressing it opening and frequently will lift our own spirits and change our attitude. Let’s not only be thankful people, but let us also be open in expressing our thanksgiving to the Lord.

For this week's sketch I used Sweet Sunday Sketch #218 with the measurements given by Kristie Marcotte in this blog post as my inspiration for the card design. One of our sponsors this week is The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. Then generously gave me the Sunflower Season stamp set to use. I stamped the image and colored it with Copic Markers. After die cutting and matting it, the image panel was adhered to the front of the card. I used my own digi stamp of this week's focus verse and cut it into a flag shape, matted it and adhered it to the bottom right side of the card. Some Stickles in the middle of the flower add the final touch of sparkle.

Supplies:
Sketch - Sweet Sunday Sketch #218
Cardstock: Park Lane #110 white for card base, Georgia Pacific white for sentiment, Copic Paper for Markers for image, Bazzill (Gold Coins, Mud Pie) Recollections (kraft), Orange brand unknown
Patterned Paper - Authentique (Pioneer Plaid)
Stamps - Psalm  26:7 (my own digi design), Stamp Simply clear stamps (Sunflower Season)
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics - Y15, 17, 19; YG21, 23, 35; W1, 3, 7
Tools/Embellishments - Our Daily Bread Designs dies (Double Stitched Rectangles, Double Stitched Pennant Flags), Stickles (Cinnamon)

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Crop Stop Challenge #45 - Use items/brands found in the Crop Stop Store (I used Ranger, Memento, Fiskars, Scotch, Cuttlebug)
Crafty Creations Challenge #377 - Anything Goes

Thanks for visiting with me today. I hope you'll come back soon.

O Give Thanks

Happy Wednesday!! It's time for a new challenge at Word Art Wednesday. This week our focus verse is from 1 Chronicles 16:34, "O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever." We could camp out on the first half of this verse for a long time thinking about all the wonderful things the Lord has done for us. He has given us so much! Then when we get to the second part of this verse, "his mercy endureth for ever" we could spend another lengthy time span. When we think of the wrong we've done and the consequences we deserve and yet the Lord offers us salvation, we can't help but thank Him and praise Him. He deserves our praise, thanksgiving and adoration.

For my card this week I chose to make a Thanksgiving card. One of the good things the Lord provides for us is people to love and encourage us. This card will go to one of these people the Lord has put in my life. I started with a Half-Shutter Card base from Our Daily Bread Designs. Our daughter gave me three paper pads by Playing With Color 2 with fall colors and patterns. One of the pads was kraft cardstock with orange-gold foiling. Three of the patterns in the pack made their way onto this card as did strips of the solid orange-gold foiled sheet. These solid foil strips add a little extra interest to the sentiment panels.

This card design gives several spots for sentiments and/or places to write a message. This card has the free digi WORDart on the front and a stamped and heat embossed sentiment on the inside. I used fine detail embossing powder from this week's sponsor, Simon Says Stamp for the heat embossing. I love the smooth finish this powder gives even when only using one layer of embossing powder.

Somewhat hidden when the card is on display is a third panel where I'll write a short message to the recipient. An alternate choice of location for a message is on the back of the card. Since the finished size of this card is 4" x 5.5", the back provides plenty of space for a personal message. For cards that are meant to be displayed, I usually like to put my message in an "out of the way" spot.

Supplies:
Card Base: Our Daily Bread Designs - Half Shutter Card
Cardstock: Bazzill (Avacado), REollections (cream)
Patterned Cardstock: Playing with Color 2
Stamps: WORDart by Karen digi (1 Chronicles 16:34), Jillibean Soup clear stamp set (Handwritten Sentiments)
Ink: Versafine (Onyx Black)
Other: Simon Says Stamp fine detail embossing powder (Clear), My Favorite Things Blueprints 1 Die set

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #199 - Thankful
Dare 2B Artzy November Challenge - Gratitude
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes
Outlawz Color Challenge  - Inspiration Photo for colors + Thankful or Thanksgiving

Thanks so much for visiting with me today. I hope you'll stop by the Word Art Wednesday blog to pick up your free digi and see the inspirational projects from the rest of the Design Team.

Thanks Be Unto God

Hello! Happy (early) Thanksgiving to my American readers! This time of year, our thoughts focus on the things for which we are thankful. Our focus verse this week at Word Art Wednesday is 2 Corinthians 9:15 which states, "Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift." At the top of our list of blessings is the gift of salvation through God's Son, Jesus. Have you accepted this gift? What about your family? About a month ago, our grandson made the decision to trust Christ as his personal Savior. We are so very thankful and excited about Jack's decison. You can be sure as we are counting our blessings on Thanksgiving, Jack's salvation will be one of the things we list as one of our top blessings for 2016.

As you have probably noticed, I am really loving Echo Park's I Love Family 6 x 6 paper pad. The colors and patterns are definitely ones that "speak to me." Simon Says Stamp is our sponsor for this week's challenge and I was able to use several of their products on my card. I smooshed Audrey Blue and Maliblue inks on an acrylic block and used a water brush pen to add some color to the banner in the Scripture WORDart. After die cutting the verse, I matted it with Audrey Blue cardstock. This same cardstock was used for mat the other patterned paper panels. I used the A2 Card Curved Edge die to cut the plaid paper panel. I also used it to come some panels for the interior decorating.

Some baker's twine, faux stitching and some Wink of Stella on the banner finish off the card front. I kept the card flat to make mailing easier.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Craft Your Passion Challenge #339 - Anything Goes
Crafting from the Heart Challenge #137 - Anything Goes

With Thanksgiving

I am very late with this week's Word Art Wednesday challenge post. Life got in the way and I wasn't able to get my card made on time. Ah well...better late than never. Right? This week's focus is on Psalm 95:2-3, "Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God and a great king above all gods." During this time of year (in America), our thoughts turn to being thankful and expressing gratitude. That is fantastic and we should do that. However, when it comes to being thankful for the Lord and His goodness to us, we should be thankful 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (366 in leap year). When we think of all He has done for us, our praise should be continuous. Today, let's praise the Lord for His goodness.

I used this week's Mojo Monday Sketch (MOJO473) as the inspiration for my card design. I kept it pretty simple to allow the verse to have the focus. I love the beautiful fall, floral paper. The centers of some of the flowers were accented with Stickles.

The scripture panel was popped up with craft foam. This will provide stability when mailed.

The interior decorating consists of a strip of patterned paper and a stamp by Jillibean Soup provides the sentiment. It will be perfect for a Thanksgiving card for a loved one.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
MOJO Monday (MOJO 473) - Sketch
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Thanksgiving/Thanks
Shopping Our Stash Challege #277 - Gobble Til You Wobble - Thanksgiving/Thanks
