And This I Pray...

It's time for another challenge at Word Art Wednesday. This week we're focusing on two verses, Philippians 1:9,10, "And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; that ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ." When I read these verses, it reminds me of a parent praying for a child. Paul is praying for his spiritual children here and the love he has for them is very evident. He wants their love for each other and the Lord to continue to grow in knowledge and judgment. He wants them to continue to agree with things that are excellent (superior, remarkably good). He also wants them to remain sincere (without hypocrisy or falseness/deceit) and without offence (transgression/sin). Is that not what any Christian parent wants for their child? Even when our children have grown up and left the nest, we need to continue to pray for them, maybe even more so as they are out on their own. This reminds me of the verse in 1 Samuel 12:23, "...God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you..." As parents, let's remain faithful in our prayers for our children, no matter what their age.

A friend recently blessed me with some new crafty toys. The banner dies and star embossing folder are just two of them. I was searching Pinterest for some ideas on using banner dies and came across this card by Kim. I used it as my inspiration. I used the third largest die in the set for my sentiment panel. I hand cut the mat and then added it to the top of an embossed banner cut with the second largest die.  I used a die in the set for the orange banner but then cut 1/4" off each side to make it a little narrower. The kraft banner was embossed using the same We R Memory Keepers 6 x 6 Star embossing folder (retired) that was used on the green mat banner.

Some baker's twine was tied around the sentiment panel  before being popped up with fun foam over the other layers. Some faux stitching, punched butterflies, rhinestones and sequins complete the card.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Tuesday Throwndown Challenge #289  - Use Your Die Cuts
ABC Challenge - E is for Everything (Anything Goes)
Crafty Gals Challenge #67 - Die Cuts or Punches (I used both)
