Cast Your Burden

It's time for another challenge at Word Art Wednesday. This week we're focusing on a very comforting verse, Psalm 55:22, "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved." It is such a relief to know that no matter how big our burden, it's not too big for the Lord. We can cast ourselves on Him and say, Lord, I can't handle this on my own. You're going to have to take care of it for me." And He will comfort and care for us. It doesn't mean we won't hurt. It means we won't have to be alone in our pain and He will be right there with us giving us strength for each day. He is truly the God of all comfort.

Our generous sponsor this week, is the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. They provided the Get Well Tulip stamp set for me to play with. I love how their clear stamps give such a clear impression right out of the package. I stamped the tulip image with Memento ink on white cardstock, colored it with Copic markers and added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to the flower petals. Then the flower was die cut using a stitched circle die. The background was embossed with an embossing folder before being matted and adhered to the cardbase. The image panel was popped up over the patterned paper layer. After the verse panel was added, some clear sequins finish off the card. I used a Sweet Sunday sketch for my card design.

Supplies:
Sweet Sunday Sketch #220
Cardstock: Park Lane (#110 white cardstock for the card base, #65 dark pink), Bazzill (light pink), Georgia Pacific (white for sentiment and image panels)
Patterned Paper: Basic Grey (Hillside Terrarium 12 x 12 - retired)
Stamps: WORDart by Karen (Psalm 55:22), Stamp Simply Ribbon Store clear stamp set (Get Well Tulip)
Ink: Memento (Tuxedo Black)
Copic Markers: BG000, 01, 10; YG13 & 17; R81, 83, 85
Tools/Embellishments: Cuttlebug embossing folder (Anna Griffin - Honeysuckle Vines), Simon Says Stamp sequins (Assorted Moonshine), Divinity Designs die (Double Stitched Circle), Spellbinders die (Standard Circle Large), Wink of Stella Glitter pen (clear)

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes
Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge - Anything Goes, Optional Twist - Layers
Crop Stop Final Challenge - Use brands/items found in the Crop Stop online store (I used Fiskars, Cuttlebug, Scotch, Zig, Tsukineko, Bazzill, Spellbinders)
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes

I really enjoyed this stamp set so much that I just had to make a 2nd card. I love this sentiment and will being using it quite often. I used the newest Mojo Monday sketch for this card design.

I hand-cut the fishtail banner. Since the card has so many layers, I kept the embellishments pretty simple. I just added 3 enamel dots to the top right of the background panel and finished it off by adding Nuvo glitter drops to the centers of the circles in the background patterned paper.

MOJO Monday Sketch 508
Cardstock: Park Lane (#110 white cardstock for the card base), Coordinations (dark blue), Georgia Pacific (white sentiment panel)

Consider in Thine Heart

Hello Friends! Thanks for joining me today. It's time for a new challenge at Word Art Wednesday. This week we are looking at Deuteronomy 4:39, "Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the Lord he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else." As we've started a new year, there is a lot of talk about choosing a "word of the year." I read this blog post, Choosing a Theme for the New Year and it really struck a chord with me. I have chosen Consider Your Ways (Haggai 1:5) as my theme for the year. I want to consider my words, thoughts and actions and make sure they are pleasing to the Lord. Are they a good testimony or will I bring shame to His name? In today's verse, we're told to consider it in our hearts that the Lord is God and there is none else. In our world today, we're told it doesn't matter who or what you believe in or even if you believe at all. We're told that all gods are the same, they just go by different names. This is just one of the verses in the Bible that tells us that line of thinking is NOT true. There is one true God and it is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In these days of uncertainty, let's hold fast to the truth of God's word and consider our ways.

For my card today I used one of my favorite fancy fold card designs, the Double Z-Fold Card. You can see my other Double Z-fold cards here and here. For the card I used one piece of cardstock measuring 4.25" x 11" and another measuring 2.5" x 11". Each piece was scored along the 11" side at 2.75" and 5.5". A Scor-Pal makes the measuring and scoring so easy. A bone folder helps get crisp folds on each piece.

For the front panel, I used a couple die cuts to showcase this week's focus verse. I used the largest die in the Large Pierced Flower Set by Gina Marie Designs as the base of the stacked die cuts. I love this paper from a new 6 x 6 pad I received for Christmas. It's mainly a dog/cat paper pad but it had this beautiful floral pattered paper and a coordinating striped design. It's the first time I used this pad and I can't wait to go back and use some of the other cat/dog papers.

On the interior left panel, I used another of the dies from the set by Gina Marie Designs to mat the sentiment strip. On the right panel a heart punched from the patterned paper embellishes the sentiment panel.

Ribbon and Nuvo glitter drops provide the final embellishments.

Supplies:
Cardstock: The Paper Studio Heavyweight (cream for card base), Recollections (red and cream), Bazzill (brown)
Patterned Paper: Authentique 6 x 6 pad (Companions)
Stamps: WORDart Wednesday (Deuteronomy 4:39), Hero Arts Stamp & Cut set (Prayers)
Ink: VersaFine (Onyx Black)
Dies: Gina Marie Designs (Large Pierced Flower Set), Divinity Designs (Double Stitched Rectangle), Stamp Simply (Fishtail Sentiment Banners), Spellbinders (Standard Circle Die Small)
Tools/Embellishments: The Paper Studio (heart punch), Nuvo Glitter Drops (white blizzard), ribbon from stash, Tombow mono multi glue, Cuttlebug die cutting machine

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Crop Stop Linky Party #47 - use items/brands from the Crop Stop online store (I used Tombow, Authentique, Cuttlebug, Tsuineko, Scotch, Fiskars and Spellbinders)
Make My Monday #87 - Use Words or a Sentiment
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes

Ephesians 6-11

Happy New Year! I hope each of you had a wonderful Christmas and 2019 is off to a good start for you. It's time for the first Word Art Wednesday challenge of the year. This week we're focusing on Ephesian 6:11, "Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be ale to stand again the wiles of the devil." What a great way to start off a new year, putting on the armor of God. Verses 14-17 in Ephesians 6 talk about the pieces of armor in more detail. We're to put on truth, righteousness, preparation of the gospel of peace, salvation, faith and arm ourselves with the Word of God. The beginning of the year is when we sort of reevaluate how our lives are going and decide to make changes. This year, let's make sure that we put some more effort into our spiritual lives and grow closer to the Lord. This will take different forms for different people. For some, it will mean starting a regular quiet time with the Lord. For others, it will mean increasing the time spent with the Lord and maybe adding Scripture memory or reading through the Bible at least once in the year. I would encourage you to spend some time in prayer and ask the Lord what changes you need to make to draw closer to Him. It will be time well spent.

Those who have followed me for awhile know I love sketches. For this card, I used Mojo Monday Sketch 459. I was gifted some Anna Giffin paper and red sequins as part of a card kit. I used those papers and added some sequins from my stash and a heart die cut for the embellishment. The centers of the sequins have Nuvo Glitter Drops in them.

Supplies:
Cardstock: The Paper Studio Heavyweight cardstock (cream card base), Recollections (cream, kraft), Bazzill (Peanut Fudge, Peanut Cluster)
Patterned Paper: Anna Griffin
Stamps: WORDart by Karen (Ephesians 6:11), Lawn Fawn (Woodgrain Backdrops)
Ink: VersaMark
Tools/Embellishments: Taupe sequins (The Paper Studio), Red Sequins (unknown), Nuvo Glitter Drops (White Blizzard), Simon Says Stamp embossing powder (clear)

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Crop Stop Linky #46 - Use items/brands found in the Crop Stop Store (Fiskars, Tsukineko, Tonic Studio, CuttleBug, Scotch)
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes
Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge - Anything Goes
