Happy Wednesday! I hope this finds you warm and well. I've been sick with the bad cold / bronchitis-like crud for almost 2 weeks now. I'm definitely feeling better but still have the lingering cough. My poor husband now is getting it. :( Anyway, enough of that. It's time for another challenge at Word Art Wednesday and this week we have two sponsors, so you'll have even more chances to win a prize. Our focus verse this week is 1 Corinthians 13:13, "And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity." Many times in the Bible the word "charity" can also mean love. The Apostle Paul, the writer of 1 Corinthians, has spent some time in the 13th chapter defining love for us. To truly love someone requires a lot of self-sacrifice. When we truly love someone, we want the best for them and will sacrifice our own wants to help them achieve their dreams and goals. This is the kind of love the Lord has for us. He sacrificed dearly for us and wants only the best for us. We'll never love each other perfectly, like God does, but it is certainly a worthwhile goal.
I thought a cozy quilt would be a great design for a card about love. Grandmas and moms stitch quilts full of love to wrap around us and keep us warm. I received this quilt die for Christmas and this was the first time I was able to play with it. I used the die with 3 pieces of double sided patterned paper and with white card stock. This gave me lots of pieces to use for some die cut inlay. On the card above, I used some Wink of Stella on the large purple die cut heart and the three small hearts on the verse panel. I left the inside of this card blank.
I made a total of 3 cards. For the one on the left in the picture above, I ran the inlaid panel through an embossing folder before adhering it to a cardstock mat. For the card on the right, I used the 2nd side of the gray snowflake paper for the outer block sections. Using double sided paper for these really gives you a lot of options.
For the interior of these two cards, I stamped a great sentiment from Dare 2B Artzy. I thought it went perfectly with the quilt design on the front. In the picture above, you can also see the embossing a little better. The hearts in the center of the design were coated with Wink of Stella before being embellished with a small baker's twine bow.
Here's a final look at my set of 3 cards. I really liked how they turned out and will definitely be using this design die quite a bit. It would also be a good way to use up scraps.
I'm entering this card in the following challeges:

Congratulations, Stephanie!
Your gorgeous quilt card set won you a challenge over at CropStop (and I don't have anything to do with it any more...I gave it over to Esther). I hope you enjoy your win. I also want to thank you for all the wonderful cards you make for Word Art Wednesday. I couldn't do this without your continued help and support. Thanks so much.
