Frogetful Sam

Stampin' Sisters in Christ has a weekly challenge. This week's is to make a card that has a childish theme or child on the card but cannot be a baby card. I recently purchased several stamp sets from Sweet & Sassy Stamps and Sam was the perfect choice for this card. {Be sure to stop by Sweet & Sassy Stamps because all their clear acrylic stamps are now 50% off!} I chose a sketch from Blogabella for my card.

Supplies: Studio 8 Paper Company - Dinosaur Land Collection; Cardstock - Georgia Pacific; Ink - Clearsnap; Brads - MM; Pens: Zig Marker - Navy; Uni-ball Signo White; Kimberly watercolor pencils; Ribbon - Michael's

Freaky Friday Challenge 2-5 {Priceless}

I am this week's Forum Fairy (kind of like a guest DT member) over at AC Bailey Designs. One of the things I get to do is come up with this week's Freaky Friday Challenge.

Here is this week's challenge: In keeping with our family's love of word-play, this week's challenge is to use an advertising slogan as your main title/journaling element. It's OK to tweak the slogan to make it fit your picture. Also, use only one large photo and some buttons.

The journaling strips/title on my layout quotes our son's actual Facebook status the day after his son was born. When I read his status that day, I knew it had to be scrapbooked. :) I took this picture the first time our son held his son.

Journaling strips say: All the missed work...Worth it. All the lost sleep...Manageable. Watching the love of your life go through 20+ hours of labor...very hard. Getting to hold my son...priceless.

Tag up in the top left corner says: Ian's Facebook status 10/23/09 2:33 pm.

Supplies: Paper: Studio 8 Paper Company - Dinosaur Land Collection (Fossil, Brontosaurus, Jurassic, & T. Rex); CS - Georgia Pacific; Buttons - MM (In Bloom); Lettering: American Crafts Thickers - Subway, Computer Font - Eurostile; Adhesives: Glue Glider Pro, Gossy Accents, Xyron, Zots Glue Dots; Misc: DMC floss, chipboard, Nestabilities Label 3; Design inspired by Pagemaps Jan. 2010

SSCC18

I truly haven't dropped off the face of the earth. ;) My father-in-law passed away the day after Christmas, our daughter had some medical tests and went back to college, and we've been trying to get back into the "normal" {what is that anyway?} routine.

Here are a couple cards I made at Christmas time that I haven't had a chance to show you yet. I used a sketch from Stampin' Sisters in Christ (SSCC18) for both of these cards.

Supplies: BG Eskimo Kisses papers & Woolies, Dew Drops, Stamp - Studio G, Bazzill card bases, ColorBox pigment ink, Stampendous Clear embossing powder, Stickles

2010 Scripture Challenge 2

Patter is hosting another Scripture challenge over on her blog. You can find all the details here. This year she plans to do 6 x 6 cards and showcase them in a wooden stand. She's currently offering a chance to win a stand similar to her's that will hold 6 x 6 cards. See her blog for all the details.

In case you missed it earlier, you can also find the details to her Faith Journal challenge here. This challenge has nothing to do with scrapbooking or card making so it's great for all those who want to make sure that their children/grandchildren know what they believed.

In general, if you want encouragement or inspiration on how to incorporate your faith into your creative endeavors....just go to Patter's blog, Triple the Scraps. :)

Indian Summer Card Set

Here is a set of cards I made from Basic Gray's Indian Summer papers. I love the deep fall colors of this line.

For a gift box, I started with a box that originally held markers:

I used a little Goo-Gone to remove the labels and then covered the lid with Indian Summer papers. I decorated the lid to look like one of the cards inside. This was a wedding gift so I put the name of the Couple in the place where the card would have the sentiment.

Here's a view of the cards & envelopes in the box:

Supplies: Papers - Basic Gray Indian Summer, Ribbon - Offray, Stamp - Studio G, Bling - Studio G, Ink - Stampabilities, embossing powder

Faith Journal Challenge

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American friends. In thinking about my blessings, I thought it only appropriate to share the following challenge.

Patter has just started having a Faith Journal Challenge over on her blog, Triple the Scraps. You can read all about the challenge here. The whole idea behind the challenge is to leave a legacy of faith for those who come behind us. Ever since my mom passed away 16 yrs. ago, I've realized how precious things written by her have become. Many times, I would have loved to know what she thought, believed, felt, etc. about various subjects. As a new grandma :), I want to make sure that those who come behind me know what I believe.

This challenge is great for even non-scrappers because, as Patter says, the whole purpose of the challenge is not "about writing, not creating."

Patter posts a new question each week. In our journal we're to write the question at the top of the page and then answer it using as much space as we'd like. She only posts one question per week so that it doesn't get overwhelming. The first week's challenge was posted here last Thurs. It's not too late to join. Why not leave a legacy of your faith for your children & grandchildren to treasure?

A Faith Perspective's Thankful for Friends of Faith Blog Hop

Welcome to Scrapbook News and Review Magazine's "A Faith Perspective Thankful for Friends of Faith Blog Hop." Today we're out in force on the internet -- showing our faith and giving the glory to God. United, we stand as Christian paper crafters and blog owners to make a presence on the internet for all to see. We're celebrating the theme of friends and we're happy to share our projects with you based on the verse:

"Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
For if they fall, one will lift up his neighbor..."

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10a

If you're just joining in on the fun, you can find the start of the train here. First we would like to take a moment to thank our generous co-sponsors: Layers of Color Stamps, Gina K Designs Stamps and Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. Together with Scrapbook News and Review Magazine, these companies have donated some wonderful prizes for today's blog hop.

Prizes? Oh, yeah!! There will be three lucky grand prize winners for today's event.

To enter, simply hop to the blogs of all the participating staff members of Scrapbook News and Review Magazine, take note of the staff member's name, and leave a comment on their posts. All entries must be received by Monday, November 16, 2009 at 12 noon, EST and three winners will be randomly chosen to win.

What are the prizes?

In addition, every participating member of Scrapbook News and Review Magazine will offer a free one-month subscription to the magazine to one of their lucky visitors simply for leaving a comment on their blog. That's a lot of chances to win, so let's get to the Hop!

I chose to do a digi-layout about our daughter and one of her friends. Kendra and her friend, Layna Porter, have been friends since the church nursery. When they were little girls, they looked a little alike and were even mistaken for each other a time or two. They thought this was pretty funny. I chose to use a brightly colored digi-kit because I thought it looked youthful and because Layna is partial to these colors & the funky florals.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're enjoying the blog hop. You next stop on this fun journey is Cassandra's blog: Altered for Him.
