Ah, Lord God!

It's time for another challenge at Word Art Wednesday. I hope you will be able to join us in our challenge...our wonderful sponsor, Simon Says Stamp will gift one participant with a generous prize. You can check out the details on the Word Art Wednesday blog.

Our focus verse this week is Jeremiah 32:17, "Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee." Our sweet daughter-in-law, Amy, had to say goodbye to her beloved Nana recently and the funeral was this week. Both our daughter-in-law and her Nana know the Lord so they have that wonderful assurance that they will see each other again in Heaven. However, because they enjoyed a very close relationship, learning how to live without frequently seeing and talking to her Nana is going to be a very hard adjustment for Amy.

As I was making this week's card, I thought this verse was very appropriate for her. The same Lord that had the power to make the heaven and earth is the same one that can comfort her heart. The same Lord that is "upholding all things by the word of his power" (Hebrews 1:3) can carry her when she feels like she just can't make in through this valley of grief. This same Lord can help her remember all the good times she had with her Nana, all the lessons Nana taught her and the godly guidance Nana gave her. How do I know He has the power to do this, from my person experience when some of my loved ones have been "promoted to Glory" and much more importantly, because our verse this week reminds us that nothing is too hard for the Lord.

I used several Simon Says Stamp products in some of Amy's favorite colors to make this week's card. I stamped 3 of the flower images and colored them with Copic markers. I could have used the coordinating dies to cute them out but instead fussy cut them and then ran a Memento black marker along the cut edges. On the pull out card, one flower was stamped using some Simon Says Stamp ink and a Hero Arts ink for the center. A white gel pen was used to accent the flower centers and they were all coated generously with a clear Wink of Stella marker.  A few sequins and this simple Criss-Cross card is complete.

I'm entering this card at the following challenges:
Crop Stop Link Party #25 - Any goes using products found in the Crop Stop Store (I'm using products by Martha Stewart, Scotch, Cuttlebug, and Fiskars)
Tuesday Throwdown #330 - Say It With Words (words are the focal point)
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Florals (have 2 or more flowers on your project)

I hope you'll stop by the Word Art Wednesday blog and see the projects from the rest of the design team. Don't forget to pick up your free WORDart while you're there. Also, please visit our fantastic sponsor, Simon Says Stamp. They are truly a one-stop-shop!

As for Me...

Wednesday means it's time for another challenge at Word Art Wednesday.  This week's focus verse is Psalm 17:15, "As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness.  I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness."  In this verse, David is looking forward to the wonders of Heaven. He knows the Heavenly Father is righteous and is greatly anticipating "waking up" in Heaven where he knows he will also be righteous.  Like us, David probably got tired of fighting against sin.  If we have trusted Christ as our Saviour, we too can anticipate a life without sin in Heaven.  In the words of the song writer, "Oh, that will be glory!"

For my card today, I chose to make a criss-cross card.  I haven't made one in awhile and decided to revisit this design.  However, this time, I chose to make it a 5.5" square.  A ribbon was stretched across the front and tucked under the patterned paper panels.  Stickles was added to the flower centers in the paper.

The sentiment panel was double matted with Spellbinders dies.  The scalloped oval just asks for some sort of bling so clear rhinestones were added.  Three flowers finish off the sentiment panel.  The little girl is from the Pray Without Ceasing Girls digi set from Deedee's Digis.  This set comes with 12 color images (3 skin tones and 4 hair colors for each skin tone), 1 outline image and 13 sentiments.  There is a corresponding boys sets as well.  I chose to use one of the pre-colored images.  She was fussy cut and popped up over the edge of the sentiment panel.  Wink of Stella was added to the little girl's eyes and to the tops of the flowers.

The pull-out card was edged with a border die cut and the panel includes plenty of space for writing a note.  A strip of the patterned paper decorates the writing panel.

Supplies:
Cardstock:  Georgia Pacific (white), The Paper Studio (pink)
Patterned Paper:  Unknown - it's from a RAK
Stamps:  WORDart by Karen (Psalm 17:15), Deedee's Digis (Pray Without Ceasing Girls)

Happy Birthday!!

Today is my mother-in-law's birthday so I thought I'd share the card I made for her with you.

I made a criss-cross Card and embellished the front with one of the layered chipboard birds a friend recently gave me.  My mother-in-law loves birds so I foresee using the birds my friend gave me on several cards for her.  I used a metallic pen for the faux stitching.  This gives a bit of shimmer as do the two flouishes.  The ribbon also has a bit of shimmer to it and the flower has touches of glitter.  The scalloped panel pulls out and is where my husband wrote our birthday message to her.

Supplies:
Cardstock:  Bazill, Recollections
Patterned Paper:  Prima (Madeline)
Stamps:  Mark's Finest Papers (Celebrate Big!)
Ink:  Memento (Tuxedo Black)
Embellishments/Tools:  flourishes (Prima, Recollections), ribbon (Ribbon Trends), Layered Chipboard Bird (K & Company), Spellbinders (Classic Ovals Large, Floral Ovals, Big Scalloped Border Petites), Sakura Gelly Roll Metallic pen, flower (Prima)

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday #252 - Diamond are Forever (Diamond Fold Card, bling)
Word Art Wednesday #63 - Anything Goes

SNSDC64 - So Happy For You

It's Friday and that means it's time for another challenge at the Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Challenge Blog.  Our challenge this week is to use flags or pennants on our projects.

I chose to use the new pre-colored Kiwi Koala image.  I think Kiwi is adorable and the watermelon slice makes it a perfect summer image.  I really like the criss-cross card and found this "cheater's version" that only uses 1/2 of a piece of 8.5" x 11" cardstock instead of the whole sheet.  Christine David's no waste criss-cross tutorial can be found here.

The flag was made with a simple toothpick and a scrap of cardstock.  The faux stitching was done with a journaling pen.

Supplies:
Cardstock:  Recollections, Georgia Pacific
Patterned Paper:  Jillibean Soup (Blossom Soup)
Stamps:  Sweet 'n Sassy Digis (Kiwi Koala's Watermelon Colored Digi, Hummingbird with Scripture)
Embellishments/Tools:  Brad (MM), Ribbon (misc from stash), toothpick, EK Success Corner Rounder, CM Fine Tip black pen

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Paper & Such - Just Stitch It (real or faux)
Shopping Our Stash #61 - Something New (the digi is a new release and the first I've used it)
Crazy for Challenges C4C146 - Stitching Real or Faux
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
52 Card Pickup - Make a card

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you'll play along with us this week.  I'm keeping this short today because we're enjoying an unexpected visit from our son and his family.
