This week's focus verse in the Say It With Scripture Challenge at the Sweet 'n Sassy Connection is Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." What a great reminder that the purpose of letting our light shine is so that others may see our good works. NOT so that we'll receive acclaim but so that the Lord will be glorified. Our world tells us that we want our actions and accomplishments to be seen so that we will gain notoriety. This verse puts our good works in perspective by reminding us that our purpose is to bring glory to our Heavenly Father. Sometimes, we all need that little prompt that it's not "all about us."
My card this week has a quilted background made from 3/4" squares. All the edges were inked before being "quilted." I colored Cocoa and his candle with Prismacolor and blended with gamsol. It doesn't show up in the picture but I used a glitter pen to give the candle flame a little sparkle.
