Sew How Was Your Day? - SNSDC8

This week's challenge at the Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Challenge Blog is a sketch challenge.  Here's my take on the sketch:

I added a sentiment circle to the sketch but isn't that called "making it your own."  *grin*  I really like these summery papers and thought they went well with the cheery question in the sentiment.  If you look closely at Cocoa's tail, you can tell I used the "out of the die" cutting technique.

Supplies:
Cardstock:  Georgia Pacific, DCWV
Patterned Paper:  Colorbok
Stamp: Sweet 'n Sassy (Sew Happy Cocoa, Sew Many Greetings)
Other:  Prismacolor Pencils, Baker's Twine, Nestabilities (Petite Oval, Petite Scalloped Oval, Circle, Eyelet Circle), Zig Writer (Teal)

I'm also entering this card in the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge #94 which is to doodle on your card.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll play along with us this week.

Say It With Scripture Challenge #2 - Habakkuk 3:18

Today I have the privilege of hosting the Say It With Scripture Challenge over at the Sweet 'n Sassy Connection.

The challenge is to use Sweet 'n Sassy Scripture digis or stamps.  Each week we focus on a different Scripture and that verse is offered as freebie Scripture digi stamp.  You may use the freebie or another Scripture stamp on your card/project.  You may use another Sweet 'n Sassy image as well but must use a Scripture digi/stamp.

Today's verse is Habakkuk 3:18 which says:  Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.  If you read the verses preceding this one, you will find that the prophet is facing some things that truly have him afraid.  Verse 16 says that his belly trembled and his lip quivered.  However, even in the face of these troublesome circumstances he says, "Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation." The word that jumps out at me is "yet."  No matter what we're facing, we can choose to rejoice in the Lord and find our joy in the God of our salvation.

This really hit home to me.  3 1/2 weeks ago our daughter had emergency surgery and spent 11 days in the hospital.  Her recovery has been slow and painful.  Like most parents, watching our daughter suffer has been very difficult.  And YET we can find our comfort, strength & joy in the Lord.  And like the prophet says in verse 19, "The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places..."

Here is the card I made using this week's freebie Scripture:

I chose to make a criss cross card.  I used a tutorial and card design I found at SCS:  Criss Cross Card tutorial.  I decided to just use the Scripture verse for this card.  I printed it out on cream colored cardstock and cut it out with a circle nestie.  I backed it with some patterned paper cut with an Eyelet Circle nestie and accented it with some faux stitches.

Supplies:
Cardstock:  Recollections, Bazzill
Patterned Paper:  BG Origins
Stamp:  Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps (Rejoicing in the Lord digi stamp set)
Other:  Ribbon-JoAnn's; Nestabilities (Circle, Eyelet Circle); Fiskars Border Punch (Threading Water); SU Journal Writer (Close to Cocoa).

I am also entering this card into the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge #94.   For this challenge you are to doodle on your card/project.

Be sure to stop by the Sweet 'n Sassy Connection to snag your freebie Scripture digi stamp and play along with us this week.

Altered Paint Bucket - SNSDC5

Before our daughter got sick and went to the hospital, I had worked ahead and had this project completed.  The hospital internet would not let me post to my blog so I was not able to post it in time.

This project is for the Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Challenge Blog Challenge #5 which was to make anything but a card.  I chose to alter a small clear paint bucket.  I used two digi stamp sets from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps -- Everyday Miracles Digital Stamp and New Creature Digital Stamp.  I paper-pieced one of the butterflies from the New Creature set three times and accented them with a Sakura glitter pen and some rhinestones.

Here is the front of my bucket:

The back of the bucket:

SNSDC7 - All About Summer

This week's challenge on the Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Challenge Blog is to make a card focusing on summer.  I also used this week's sketch at The Sweet Stop - SSS112 for my design.

I chose the newly released Ocean Paradise digi stamp and one of the sentiments from the Feminine Birthday set for my card.  I sponged the sky portion of my image and the sentiment circle with ink .  I don't think you can tell in the picture but I added a little sparkle to the water & the umbrella with a glitter pen.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Georgia Pacific, Recollections
Patterned Paper:  Fancy Pants
Stamps:  Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Stamps (Ocean Paradise, Feminine Birthday)
Other:  Prismacolor Pencils, SU Ink (Bliss Blue), Best Occasions Metal Dots, Sakura Clear Star gelly roll pen, Spellbinders Nestabilities (standard circles large & small, petite ovals large, petite scalloped ovals large)

World's Best Dad!

I'm sorry I've been MIA for so long.  On May 27th, our daughter had emergency colon surgery.  Her recovery has not been the smoothest so my focus for the past 3 weeks has been on doing what I can to help her feel better.  We are praising the Lord that we are now seeing daily improvements -- it will just take time for her to reach full recovery.

My card today uses SSS112 from The Sweet Stop.  The focal image is the Let's Go Fishing Puppy Digital Stamp at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  I colored this sweet pup with my prismacolor pencils and used a metallic marker for his collar tag.

My sentiment is from the Father's Day Sentiment Digi Stamp Set also from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  I cropped the sentiment in Word to make it go to two lines so that it would fit in my circle nestie.  I love that about digi images-- you can crop & re-size them to fit your project perfectly.  I popped the sentiment medallion up on foam tape.

Supplies:
Cardstock:  Georgia Pacific, Bazzill Dotted Swiss & Misc (green)
Patterned Paper:  Fancy Pants Designs
Digital Stamps: Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps (Let's Go Fishing Puppy, Father's Day Sentiments)
Other:  Spellbinders Nestabilties (Standard Circles Small, Eyelet Circles), SU Journal Writer, Prismacolor Pencils, AC Metallic Marker (silver)

I am also entering this card in this week's challenges at:
Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge #93 -- Father's Day card
Stamptacular Sunday Challenge #115 -- Dad or Grads
Technique Tuesday's #53 - any 3 past challenges (I used Animal Image, Die Cuts, & Stitching)
